Confirm the application before you choose the configuration
Technical Evaluation & Sample Testing
An instrument can only be evaluated meaningfully against a defined testing task. Start with your material, target elements, required ranges and sample form. A technical discussion can then focus on the model and configuration relevant to that task.
Where sample testing is needed, discuss the scope and arrangements with JIEBO before sending any samples.
When it helps
When to Start with an Application Review
An application review is useful when you are selecting your first instrument, adding a material or measurement requirement, comparing possible configurations, or evaluating a sample that differs from your usual work.
It is also the right starting point when you have a requirement but do not yet know which product category or model to consider.
Your information
Share What You Know
- Testing goalThe decision the measurement needs to support: for example, a material check, production quality task or a defined identification requirement.
- Material or matrixThe material you work with and any known alloy or grade information.
- Elements and rangesThe elements of interest and the required ranges, limits or other written measurement requirements, where known.
- Sample formA description of the sample’s shape, size, condition and how it will be presented for evaluation.
- Intended useWhether testing is planned in a laboratory, production area or at a specified site.
- Existing informationThe model or document version you are reviewing, an existing configuration, or a relevant requirement you are permitted to share.
You do not need every field answered before making contact. Mark anything uncertain and describe the practical task in your own words.
Scope
Agree What the Evaluation Needs to Answer
A useful evaluation has a defined question. Before testing is arranged, clarify the proposed sample, target measurements, instrument configuration, any preparation requirements and the result that needs to be reviewed.
Also identify any customer-specific technical or acceptance requirements. A general demonstration and an evaluation against a defined requirement are not interchangeable.
Samples
Confirm Sample Arrangements Before Shipping
Please contact us before sending samples. Confirm the appropriate recipient and shipping instructions, whether the sample can be accepted, any applicable charges, the expected arrangements and what will happen to the sample after evaluation.
Do not assume that testing is free, that all samples can be accepted, or that a fixed reporting time applies. These details need to be agreed for the request.
Results
Review the Result with Its Conditions
A result is useful when you can see what sample and configuration it relates to, what was evaluated and what conclusion is supported.
Review any limitations or points that remain unconfirmed. A result for one sample and configuration does not by itself establish suitability for every material, production condition or future requirement.
Next step
From Evaluation to a Defined Instrument Proposal
Where the technical discussion supports a proposed configuration, the next step is to clarify the model, applicable calibration curves, accessories and relevant purchasing or installation requirements.
The proposal should address the task that was discussed. Additional requirements may call for further technical review rather than an automatic extension of an earlier result.
FAQ
Questions Before You Begin
Do I need to select a model first?
No. You can begin with the testing task, the material and the information you already have. An intended model is optional at the start of the discussion.
Can I send a report or a customer’s sample information?
Start with a non-confidential summary. Tell us when the information belongs to a customer or is subject to restrictions, so an appropriate method of exchange can be agreed before detailed material is shared.
Is this a third-party certification testing service?
This page describes technical evaluation in connection with instrument selection. It does not offer an accredited third-party certification or regulatory testing service.
Start with Your Sample and Your Question
Describe what you need to measure and what you need the evaluation to establish. Include the sample information you already know; leave uncertain details for the discussion.
